Introduction

This blog is primarily going to be a recipe archive. My husband is from Andhra Pradesh, India, so I thought it would be cute to call my blog Mrs. Andhra since my cooking is a creative mix of vegetarian Indian & American cuisines.

Typically, I'm fairly organized, but recently I've been feeling that my recipes are all over the place. I have a bookshelf full of cookbooks, stray papers tucked in the pages with recipes I've jotted down. I have an email folder of recipes I've tagged to save and various blogs bookmarked with recipes I want to try one day. This is my endeavor to document my family’s favorite recipes in a centralized location. While we were growing up, my mom kept a book of our family favorite recipes-the infamous Gnome Gnotebook where one can find her pancakes & blueberry syrup recipes (which is the breakfast our childhood sleepovers were famous for.) So, this blog is what I'll consider my "e-gnome gnotebook", if you will.

I'll post other things as well. Ideas and musings related to life & being a new mom. And probably other things as well, but that's all I can take time to think of now since I need to go soothe a crying baby. Hope you enjoy-see you around :)

When I worked as a health coach, I had many conversations with participants about how to eat healthy and overcome obstacles such as eating on a budget, cooking for 1-2 people, and quick & easy recipes. A lot of these recipes I will post are ones that I try to make to fit this lifestyle--a few, simple, healthy ingredients that cook up a satisfying meal for at least 2 people. We typically eat a vegetable curry for lunch, while dinner we mostly go non-Indian for a little variety. I make the curry in the morning to pack for lunch. I did this even while I was working, so I can testify that these curries are ready and packed in 30 minutes. Due to the unfortunate events that our tummies can't handle very spicy foods on a daily basis, you'll find that these recipes will be flavorful, but mild. We save our spicy eats for special occasions, or add a little pickle if we are craving something with more spice. Dinners also average 30-45 minutes, but we do pride ourselves on eating good, wholesome meals, so we really try not to skimp on quality or default to many convenience foods. I'll try to post some time saving tips and share some of my favorite health coaching tips & tricks as well.
